With this evocative slogan, the Musical Fortnight offers us 80 events filled with music, dance, and other artistic disciplines that will take place throughout August in the main halls and cultural spaces of San Sebastián and other locations in Gipuzkoa, Álava, Navarra, and Lapurdi.
In its 85th edition, this veteran festival invites us to embark on a fascinating journey with music as our passport. Explore Egypt with Saint-Saëns, glimpse into the land of the Cossacks with Shostakovich, traverse the Jewish past in Eastern Europe with Prokofiev. Travel with Ravel to the Orient of One Thousand and One Nights, with Stravinsky to the magical confines of Russia, and discover the adventures of travelers such as the Galician Egeria, the Genoese Marco Polo, or the Czech composer, writer, and rebel Krystof Harant. The dance show "Folia" will take us through rhythms from various places and eras in a kaleidoscopic manner, and the Sanctuary of Arantzazu will witness the work of Galician musician Abraham Cupeiro, a specialist in the recovery of ancient instruments, along with Eñaut Elorrieta, Agus Barandiaran, Oreka TX, and Oiasso Camerata in a joint project created especially for the Fortnight.
International figures and choral music will come together at the festival, which will feature the world premiere of 9 shows, including the opera "Carmen" and the children's opera "Egia ala geRuza," both of its own production, and the show "Hiru" by Kresala Dantza Taldea, in homage to Eduardo Chillida.
Reserve your stay in Gipuzkoa Hotels. Ask for quality, service, scenery, gastronomy, culture, and lots and lots of music this summer.
